christianity vs. religion

Christianity vs. Religion

The definition of religion means that man is doing something for God. Christianity means God is doing something for man. These are complete opposite meaning and I will try to break it down a little further to make it clearer. Religion is tradition passed on from one generation to another. Christianity is to accept Christ as your savior, and confess your sins to Christ who died on the cross that we might have everlasting life. Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a christian. This is a choice we all make for ourselves. When Jesus preached the gospel, he was preaching to religious people more often than not. He knew that they were harder to turn than someone with no beliefs at all, because they were brought up learning their ancestor’s traditions. Such as reciting things or wearing certain garments, killing, confessing to man, etc. The Bible does not teach these things and is clearly against them. Most religious people do not want to hear the gospel; therefore they don’t even know how to be saved or what it means to be born again. Christians on the other hand, thrive to hear the gospel preached and will not go to a church that does not preach the gospel. That is in fact what Jesus tells us to do in Mark 16:15 "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." To preach the gospel, one would have to preach the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And that is Not what most religious people want to hear. Christians share a belief that there is only one way to Heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ, and that is essential to their faith.
In Christianity, we are always reminded that the tomb is empty. Jesus died for our sins and was buried in a tomb, and He has risen again. As Christians, we worship a living God that is coming again for His people. In the first chapter of Acts, Jesus spoke his last words on earth before going to Heaven. As He was going into the Heavens and the disciples were gazing up at Him leaving. Two angles appeared saying "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

Jesus is Coming again! Are you ready?
