Spiritual Child Abuse
One of God's greatest gifts here on earth is a child.
In Proverbs 22:6 it states "Train up a child in the
way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from
it."
Child abuse is growing at an alarming rate in this world.
It is very hard to understand how people can abuse a child.
There are thousands of people that want a child, but are unable
to have one. I would think that rather than abuse a child,
give it to someone that wanted it. The ultimate form of child
abuse is to abort it. Millions of children are aborted each
year, and that is the worst thing you can do to a child is
take his or her life. Give it to someone that wants a child,
don't take their life.
Now on to spiritual child abuse, physical child abuse will
end. When a child grows to an adult, they will get tired of
all the abuse and leave. But spiritual child abuse may have
to be endured for all eternity. As a born again Christian,
when I had children, one of my main concerns was of their
spiritual condition, because our life here on earth is soon
passed and behind us. Our spiritual condition when we leave
this earth will lead us to Heaven or Hell, which we will have
to endure for all eternity.
So now you might ask, how do I keep from spiritually abusing
my child? In Hebrews 10:25 it states: "Not forsaking
the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some
is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye
see the day approaching." So Paul is commanding us
to go to Church and learn the word of God. Get your children
in a gospel preaching Church and Sunday school so they can
learn the way of the Lord.
In Deuteronomy 6:4-7 it states: "Hear, O Israel:
The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD
thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with
all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this
day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently
unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest
in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
So a spiritual education is the most important thing you can
give your child. So train up a child in the way he or she
should go and have a relationship with Jesus Christ. And when
they leave this earth they will have a home in Heaven for
all eternity. So you need to make sure that you're not
guilty of spiritual child abuse.
We are living in such an evil world today because many adults
were not spiritually educated as children. Taking a life is
no more to some people than shooting a wild animal. They were
not taught how sacred a human life can be. You only learn
that life is sacred in the house of God. The government has
taken God out of our public schools so unless they are taken
to Church; you are spiritually abusing your child.
Ephesians 6:1-4 says, "Children, obey your parents
in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother;
(which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may
be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring
them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
So here it states that our children need to obey their parents.
If a child needs to be chastened we are directed to do just
that. Proverbs 19:18 says; Chasten thy son while there is
hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. We live in
a strange world. If we are seen spanking our children, some
people are screaming abuse. If we abort a child, that is fine
and the world has no problem with that. The Bible says to
train him, teach him and chasten him while there is hope.
So a little swat on the behind when your child is acting up
can do him or her good. A disciplined child will drive the
foolishness out of heart. An un-disciplined child will think
they can get away with anything. It says in Proverbs 29:15
"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to
himself bringeth his mother to shame."
